The total cost of your license will depend on three things:
  1. How often you are avaliable to fly.
  2. How hard you study.
  3. How quickly you catch on.

Flying is fun and different for everybody. I love every minute I'm in the air, just as I'm sure you will! The FAA minimum for obtaining a private pilot's license is 40 hours, although the national average is higher.

Here is the minimum cost:

40 hours flight time, Cessna 150 $3,600
30 hours instruction $1,200
Training materials $200
Written test fee $90
Flight test airplane rental $150
FAA Examiner's fee $250
Total $5,490

The harder you work, the more fun you'll have, and the quicker you'll get your license!
